Bible Baptist Schools Library

Our library creates a welcoming place for our students, teachers, and community members as we foster a love of reading. We strive to empower students to be critical thinkers, innovators, lifelong readers and learners, and responsible citizens.

What We Do

Once a week our PTA group gets involved for our library time! Our library period groups different classes and at each of their separate times, the students enjoy the following activities:

  • Story Time
  • PTA parents read to the children, or students take turns reading different pages from the book.

  • Reading Groups
  • Students are divided into reading groups and take turns reading from the same book.

  • Individual Reading Time
  • PTA parents will help the students select a book to read.

  • Craft Time
  • Students enjoy creating, coloring, painting, or building a craft which coincides with the story.

    Upper Elementary

  • Book Reading Challenge
  • Each student sets a reading goal for the month and tries to complete that goal.

  • Book Clubs
  • Every semester the students are encouraged to form book clubs; this encourages students to read in many ways.

  • Author Highlights
  • Each month we focus on a specific author; we watch a biography video on the author, study his work, and read his books.

  • Activities
  • In addition to reading, our activities coincide with a theme of the day. Students have worked on worksheets finding the main theme, plot, characters, prediction, comparison, summaries, opinion vs. facts, order of events etc. Word games are also incorporated during the library period to help students with their vocabulary and story-building skills.

“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty.
It should be offered to them as a precious gift.” —Kate DiCamillo
